Should I take the ACT or the SAT?

I’m glad you asked, because the two tests are very different. One test may be a lot easier for you than the other.

“Wait, do all colleges and universities accept BOTH the ACT and the SAT?"

The answer is YES! So you can take whichever one you want.

You can also take either test as many times as you want. But who wants to take a standardized test over and over? Choosing the right test for you means that you can minimize your test taking.

Yes, both tests have 4 sections. But the 4 sections are quite different. Even the style of math questions on the ACT is different than the style of math questions on the SAT.

Also, there is an optional 5th section on the ACT in which you write an essay. The SAT does not have any options for an essay writing section. So if you’re trying to showcase your writing skills because you want to apply to a writing program, then you might want to take the ACT.

There are LOTS of differences between the two tests. These are just a few examples. If you’re really want to know which test is best for you, let me know. I can assess your situation and skills and let you know which test might be the best fit. It could make all the difference in your final score!

And finally, deciding whether to take the ACT or SAT might be dependent upon where you are applying for college. If you are applying to schools in England, Canada, or the European Union, many colleges & universities require an ACT/SAT test score to submit their applications.
