How do I decide what to study in college?

This is SUCH a great question! However, sometimes I feel like people are embarrassed to ask this, like they feel that they should already magically know. The #TRUTH is, no one ever magically knows this. It doesn’t come to you suddenly out of thin air!

Instead, it involves quite a bit of thought and consideration. I work with people who are going through this journey all the time. It’s fun! Really!

First, you might want to examine certain parameters about yourself: preferred activities, personality traits, behavioral tendencies, background experiences, desired skill sets, and innate talents, just to name a few.

Have you always wondered why something was so easy for you and so difficult for everyone else? This might be a clue as to where you want to take your professional offerings.

Once you have analyzed these aspects of yourself, you might want to take a deep dive into global disciplines that speak to you. Do some fun research! You might find yourself discovering professional pathways that you didn’t even know existed. Or better yet, you might find the inspiration you need to design your own career. This is what dreams are made of!

Feel free to reach out to me and schedule a consultation if you need some help deciding which disciplines to study in college. This is one of my favorite things to do! Helping people find direction in their academic development! I can take you through the entire process:

  1. deciding what to study

  2. identifying prospective schools and programs

  3. choosing appropriate coursework to prepare

  4. finding enrichment opportunities outside of school

  5. requesting letters of rec

  6. writing essays

  7. filling out applications

  8. submitting applications and fielding admissions offers
